State of the District Address
It was first in my eight (8) month-stay here in Vallehermoso District where I thought of relaying my statement in writings by way of a State of the District Address. This June, I facilitated a collaborative data analysis and school planning session with school heads for the year ahead. During this session, we re-committed to each school vision and identified the values we hold for our school. We also reviewed our school demographics, perceptual data, and achievement data and identified strengths and areas for improvement. We then thoughtfully updated our School’s Improvement Plan and Professional Development Plan.
Much has been said and written about how a district shall go about and what to do to improve the ever-increasing need for modernization and upgrading of the quality of education so that pupils will develop to their fullest potentials.
May I in this respect enumerate the tangible achievements we reap from the rigorous and concerted efforts and cooperation of the teachers and staff, parents and pupils?
PHYSICAL FACILITY
Improvement of school structures, beautification and landscape.
FACULTY AND STAFF
Encouragement to teachers for promotion especially to those teachers who were left unmoved for years. A number of the teachers were promoted Teacher II, Teacher III, Master Teacher I and Master Teacher II.
SCHOOLS ACHIEVEMENTS
As you know, Vallehermoso District’s visualization, which was collaboratively developed by teachers and parents and leads the decisions we make is:
VALLEHERMOSO District is committed to being a collaborative learning district where rigorous academics and character education ensure the development of a whole child. To design learning experiences to meet the unique learning needs of each pupils so that all of the children in the district may develop 21st century skills: critical thinking and reasoning, information literacy, self-direction, collaboration and invention/innovation. We celebrate curiosity and creativity in the development of the life-long learners.
Additionally, the school heads of Vallehermoso identified the following values which will keep in mind everyday: Students first, community, fun, respect, integrity, collaboration, equity and accountability.
